Home Sweet Home

About three weeks ago, Heather and I became homeowners!

Thumbs up homeowners!

Yes, that is a double selfie. It was an extra exciting moment.

Sold!

It’s been a whirlwind few months, but with a lot of help from family and friends this…

…turned into this…

…which finally became this!

Our first meal together in our new space: leftover pizza never tasted so good!

The previous homeowners poured a lot of love and work into this home, restoring and updating the space, while maintaining and enhancing all of the character. There are a ton of things that we love about our home – the stainless steel countertops, this awesome spice cubby in the original cabinets, those slate floors, and some pretty fantastic vintage school doors that the previous owners found in a salvage yard. It feels like this house was made for us!

Of course, there is also the weeding, minor water in the basement, cleaning twice as much space, and all the other less fun parts of homeownership. But that’s all part of the gig, right?

At our open house this past weekend, we served some lovely seasonal treats, including Smitten Kitchen’s strawberry rhubarb crisp bars.

If you haven’t tried them yet, I recommend you do so soon! They’re super quick, easy to veganize (we did coconut oil, you could also melt some vegan butter) and packed with a whole lot of sweet-tart deliciousness.

New recipes coming soon (I hope!). Happy summer!
